Passes for Older or Disabled People
Kent County Council, as part of English National Concessionary Travel Scheme, offers free off-peak travel bus passes for older and disabled people to travel on bus services.
These free off-peak travel passes allow you to travel:
between 9:30am and 11pm, Monday to Friday
all day at weekends
on public holidays
on the Park and Ride bus in Canterbury (parking charges apply)
across Kent, London and the rest of England.

KCC Travel Saver
The KCC Travel Saver offers a bus pass that can save parents and pupils up to 50% on the cost of travel to and from school. The pass is available for pupils who are residents of Kent and at school in year 7 to 11. For the school year 2024/2025, the pass is priced at £550 if purchased upfront, £560 if paid via Direct Debit, and just £120 for children registered for Free School Meals. The KCC Travel Saver can be used from September until 31 July 2025. The pass can be used on any public bus service in Kent on Mondays to Fridays between 6am and 7pm. Passes can be used in school holidays but not in August.
To apply you must be:
a resident of Kent (whose household pays Council Tax to a Kent district or borough council for Kent County Council services)
at school in years 7 to 11, whether they go to school in or outside of Kent.

KCC 16+ Travel Saver
The KCC 16+ Travel Saver offers a bus pass that can save parents and students up to 50% on the cost of bus travel to and from school and college. For the academic year 2024/2025, the pass is priced at £600 if purchased upfront, £610 if paid via Direct Debit. The KCC 16+ Travel Saver is valid at any time of the day and on any day of the year, including evenings, weekends and school holidays.
To apply for a pass you must be:
a resident of Kent (whose household pays Council Tax to a Kent district or borough council for Kent County Council services)
16 to 19 years old and in academic years 12 to 14 (to be eligible your date of birth must be between 1 September 2006 and 31 August 2008)
attending a participating school, college, work, learning provider or apprenticeship provider.

Home School Transport Passes
Kent County Council offers free bus passes to children who meet the eligibility criteria. This is based on distance to school, family income levels and special educational needs.
