RTI Displays

RTI Displays

Kent has made significant strides in enhancing its public transport system, and one of the most impactful developments has been the implementation of Real-Time Information (RTI) displays. These displays have transformed the way passengers interact with the bus network, providing real-time updates and improving the overall travel experience.

Real-Time Information (RTI) displays are electronic screens installed at bus stops and shelters that provide passengers with up-to-date information on bus arrival times. These displays use GPS technology to track the exact location of buses and estimate their arrival times at specific stops. By offering real-time updates, RTI displays help passengers plan their journeys more effectively and reduce uncertainty while waiting for buses.

In Kent, RTI displays are strategically installed at key bus stops and shelters across the county. These locations are chosen based on passenger volume, route significance, and accessibility. The Kent County Council continually assesses and expands the coverage of RTI displays to ensure that more passengers benefit from this technology.

Future RTI Displays on the Fastrack Network

The Fastrack Network, Kent's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, is set to see significant upgrades in the coming years. As part of the Fastrack Electrification and ZEBRA Commission, new environmentally friendly infrastructure will be rolled out across the Fastrack bus networks. This includes the installation of advanced RTI displays that will provide real-time passenger information and media advertising at bus shelters. The Fastrack network, which operates in areas such as Kent Thameside and Dover, will benefit from these enhancements, ensuring that passengers have access to the latest information and a more efficient travel experience.
